Robert M. Barta

Robert Barta is the managing partner of Barta Tate. His distinguished legal career spans more than 35 years. Recognized by Martindale-Hubbell with an AV Preeminent rating, Mr. Barta is considered among his peers as having achieved the highest level of professional excellence. He has tried cases to verdict in bench and jury trials and arbitrations and has litigated in state and federal courts in multiple venues, including California, New York and Washington, D.C. He has also obtained significant favorable appellate and state Supreme Court decisions, setting legal precedent in those matters. (See Oasis West Realty, LLC v. Mr. Barta serves as litigation counsel for individuals, family offices, partnerships and corporations engaged in a variety of business and commercial endeavors ranging from product sourcing to real estate development and sales; included among them are national and international companies involved in an array of industries such as entertainment, hospitality and finance. He also represents management firms, talent agencies and high-profile individuals in both the entertainment and business fields.

Having represented his clients in complex litigation for several decades, Mr. Barta has built a reputation as a forceful and effective litigator and insightful counselor. He works with his clients in weighing the costs and benefits of litigation, focusing on each client’s specific needs and goals. Mr. Barta also specializes in tort related litigation such as trade secret/breach of confidentiality, defamation and personal injury resulting in catastrophic loss. 

Mr. Barta was admitted to the California Bar in 1983. He received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from UCLA and his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University.
