Entertainment and Media

At Barta Goldberg, we represent a breadth of individuals and entities in the entertainment and media industry, including A-list actors, writers, producers, directors, management firms, talent agencies and studios, among others.

When advocating on behalf of those in the entertainment and media industry, we understand how important it is to provide representation that is considerate of the needs, preferences and limitations applicable to each client. We often work with clients who live a “public life” and whose business interests are fundamentally reliant on their public reputation. As such, our ability to exercise discretion at every stage of the litigation process is highly valued.

A Broad Array of Disputes

We handle a wide range of entertainment and media litigation matters for our clients, from breach of contract conflicts between entertainment professionals and studios, to ownership disputes, tortious interference claims, non-consensual use of identity, and sexual harassment claims, among others.

At Barta Goldberg, we are able to effectively litigate a variety of complex disputes due to our deep engagement with clients. Unlike some of our competitors, we take an individualized approach to litigation. We learn the contours of the legal matter at hand, as well as the influence it is likely to have on the client’s various personal and business interests. This gives us the insight necessary to act decisively, despite handling diverse matters.

We have taken many cases to trial and have resolved even more prior to any lawsuit being filed, with a significantly positive success rate, including disputes between the creators and writers of television series and television networks, sexual harassment claims against actors, manager-talent disputes, claims involving the alleged loss of business due to the creation of a new talent agency, and studio-related profit issues.

We generally find that most entertainment and media matters are best resolved prior to litigation, and thus we favor peaceable resolutions. If negotiations break down, however, we are willing and able to take a case to trial and aggressively litigate on behalf of our clients.
